E-Mentoring Program

Are you looking to be a positive influence in a student's life? If so, you should apply to be an ACES mentor through our E-Mentoring Program!

E-mentoring is a great way for adults to engage with our middle school students and get involved with ACES programming. Beginning in March, you will email once per week with an ACES student. You'll help them practice appropriate communication, grammar, and, as a professional, you'll provide a life-long example of what is achievable beyond graduation! This year, ACES students will compete in a fantasy basketball league within their class. As an e-mentor, you'll work to help them compute math problems, and correspond about the results.

To register fill out an application here. Once you complete the application our Outreach Coordinator, Jonathan Turner, will reach out to you regarding details moving forward!

ACES has Tunnel Vision!

#TBT! Throwback to last Sunday when our ACES middle schoolers had the opportunity to run out of the tunnel and across the field at TCF stadium before the big game versus the Seattle Seahawks! Eleven students from Linwood Monroe Arts Plus school in St Paul stood out on the field during the national anthem and then took their seats for the remainder of the game! Despite the score, our students had an amazing time and an unforgettable day. A huge shout out to our partners, the Minnesota Vikings, for providing us with this awesome opportunity.

Macalester Field Trip Fun!

Grady & Tor.jpg

On Saturday, ACES students in grades 4-6 attended the KidsJudge! event at Macalester College. ACES students became the judges for the day, evaluating the college students presentations of topics relating to the brain, senses, and nervous system. Students were split up into small groups and rotated to different stations.

The 6 different presentations that the students evaluated were: You & Eye, AMPA it up, Sunny Sound Up, We're all Ears, Memory Masters and Lights, Camera, Action Potential. STudents put in their ballot at the end and chose Memory Masters as the winners of KidsJudge! 2015.

A big thank you to Macalester College for hosting such a fun event!

It's Here: Give to the Max Day 2015

ACES Friends! It's that time once again... Give to the Max Day is almost here and ACES is excited to announce that we will have a donor match this year.

  • If ACES receives $7500 in donations, it will be matched dollar for dollar for a total of $15,000.
  • If we receive $10,000 in donations, our donors have committed to doubling the pledges and will provide matching funds at $20,000, for a total of $30,000.

Remember, it takes $1,600.00 to tutor one student for a full year. A donation from you has a huge impact on a kid who needs it now so they can become a doctor, nurse, police officer, or teacher in the future.

Help us reach our goal by donating now!

ACES Website Gets a Facelift

With the start of the new academic year, we thought it was the perfect time to give a new look to our website, and more importantly, find a way to tell more of the ACES story to our supporters.

We hope you like the new design as much as we do and if you have suggestions or feedback, send it our way! I'll be working with the program staff and volunteers to update you on all things ACES through this site and will make sure and post about the small victories we see amongst our students each week.

Thank you for being an ACES champion and friend. We are so grateful for your support!

MN Twins Alum Joins ACES Team

We are thrilled to welcome Jonathan Turner, (JT to those who know him) to our staff as ACES Outreach Coordinator. A native of Los Angeles, JT comes to us most recently from the Minnesota Twins, but he also worked with the Minnesota Timberwolves. In addition to his experience in the pro sports industry here in town, JT brings a passion to help others to the ACES team. We love that he shares our belief that every student has the full potential to do anything they set their mind to!

JT graduated from the University of Northwestern-St. Paul with a degree in Communication Studies and a minor in Public Relations. In addition to his work managing volunteer recruitment and outreach, JT will also play a lead role in the partnerships with the professional sports teams.
