Honoring Justice Alan Page

ACES is proud to welcome Pro Football Hall of Famer, retired Minnesota Supreme Court Justice, and champion for education equity Justice Alan Page to the All-Star Evening as our 2022 Locked In Award recipient.

Alan Page was a defensive tackle for the Minnesota Vikings from 1967-1978, and earned All-Pro honors six times, was voted to nine consecutive Pro Bowls, and was named the NFL’s Most Valuable Player in 1971. Page earned his J.D. from the University of Minnesota Law School in 1978 and was elected to the Minnesota Supreme Court in 1992. With his re-election in 1998, he became the biggest vote getter in Minnesota history. Justice Page served four terms on the court before retiring in 2015. Page and his wife Diane founded the Page Education Foundation, which assists Minnesota students of color in their pursuit of post-secondary education. To date, the foundation has awarded almost $16 million in grants to more than 7,700 students. Page is also the recipient of the Presidential Medal of Freedom, the nation’s highest civilian honor.

Making a difference for Twin Cities students

ACES brings learning to life for Twin Cities students through the exciting lens of sports. Since 1994, we’ve provided transformational out-of-school-time programming for thousands of students across Minneapolis and Saint Paul. Our innovative approach focuses on mathematics skill building and social-emotional development, and reinforces classroom learning. ACES is proud to be the first and only organization of its kind to have the direct support of every Minnesota professional sports team. Paired with ACES’s hands-on curriculum, individual mentorship, and once-in-a-lifetime experiential learning opportunities, team and athlete partnerships spark learning and inspire students to succeed.

The pandemic continues to have a profound impact on students’ education and overall welfare, and the historically marginalized and low-income communities ACES serves have been disproportionately affected. ACES’s mission to close the academic opportunity gap and prepare Twin Cities students for success has never been more urgent. By supporting ACES through the All-Star Evening, you to help even more young learners receive the all-star education they deserve.
