Back to School with ACES!
Back to School with ACES
By Jenn Schultz
Now that school is starting, we are excited to get back to our academic year programming and see our ACES Faces again! There will be many new faces this year as we welcome Harold Mezile North Community YMCA to our academic year site locations.
New faces aren’t the only changes we’ll be seeing this fall! Linwood Monroe Arts Plus School in Saint Paul has changed its name to Global Arts Plus and will be the first site to resume programming. School officially begins on Tuesday, September 3rd and their Site Coordinator Sara Schmidt as well as some returning Academic Coaches will be there to welcome the students with a week of team building activities and skill building games. Our Global Arts Plus programming will kick off with their first curriculum unit Training Camp on September 9.
The rest of our sites will start back on September 23rd, so the first week of September will be filled with professional development and training for our new and returning Academic Coaches. New Academic Coaches will have an opportunity to learn from our Site Coordinators, while experienced Academic Coaches will getting hands-on learning in leading huddles, social emotional reflection, and classroom management. They will also have an opportunity to get a first look at curriculum for the year and create their first lesson plans!
Janyesha Jackson will be returning as the Site Coordinator at our other Saint Paul location, East Side Boys and Girls Club. Jerry Gamble Boys and Girls Club in Minneapolis also has a returning Site Coordinator in Claire Williams.
