Matt Dumba named Masterson Trophy finalist

ACES Athlete Ambassador and Minnesota Wild defenseman Matt Dumba has been named a finalist for the Bill Masterson Memorial Trophy – an annual award for the NHL Player who best exemplifies perseverance, sportsmanship, and dedication to hockey!

Matt is in his fifth season as an ACES Athlete Ambassador. He has led both in-person and virtual sessions with students, discussing everything from perseverance and teamwork to friction and physics on the ice. In addition to his presence in ACES classrooms, Matt has led hockey workshops, served as an e-mentor for an individual ACES student, enabled once-in-a-lifetime field trips to Minnesota Wild games, and made generous donations to support ACES families’ most impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Matt continues to be a champion for ACES students and works tirelessly to make hockey more inclusive for everyone. He’s only the third player in Minnesota team history to be named a finalist for the award and we’ll be rooting for him when the winner is announced during the Stanley Cup finals.

Congratulations, Matt and thank you for your incredible leadership!
